Departing Evora late this morning, after time for a leisurely start or to visit the Cathedral, we said goodbye to Portugal - a beautiful & charming country that surprises many visitors - & said Hola! to Spain.
Our first stop was purely functional - a highway rest area for lunch & a break. From there we continued to our destination, the Andalusian capital, Seville.
Upon arrival we stopped briefly in Maria Luisa park to visit Plaza de Espana, the site of the Spanish pavilion from the 1929 International Fair. Then we continued to our great hotel, the Hotel Becquer.
After a quick check-in we took a stroll along the Rio Guadalquivir to see the Maestanza bullring & the Torre del Oro, two sights that we won't see on our tour tomorrow.
This evening's dinner was at the nearby Taverna del Alabardero, a superb private restaurant that even has a branch in Washington DC!
