Today was mainly a travel day, driving north from Granada to Madrid.
After leaving Andalusia our route took us into Castille, passing through La Mancha, the central region of Spain that is famous as the setting of the adventures of Don Quixote.
After checking into our hotel we took a walk to the nearby... Egyptian temple! A gift from Egypt to Spain for its help in researching & even relocating archaeological sites that would have been submerged by the rising waters of Lake Nasser after the completion of the Aswan High dam in the 1960s.
Then we traveled by metro to dinner in Plaza Mayor, the city's most beautiful square.
We ended our evening with dessert of rich hot chocolate & churros at the historical San Gines bar.
