September 24th: The Alhambra! NEW PHOTOS

This morning was dedicated to exploring the spectacular & exotic Alhambra, the Moorish palace complex atop one of the highest hills in Granada.
After breakfast we rode a small city bus up hill, through narrow & winding streets, to the front entrance of the complex.  There we met our expert local guide, Patricia, & were equipped with audioguides.
We began by strolling through the beautiful Generalife gardens, then entered the Alhambra proper.  After seeing the palace of the Christian King Charles V we ended our visit with the most impressive part of the entire complex, the Nasrid Palaces.  It was here that the Moorish rulers lived & the ceilings, walls & floors are decorated in incredibly ornate stucco, tile, & woodwork.  Water is an important feature, with fountains & running waterways in many courtyard & even rooms.
From the Alhambra we strolled down in to the center of Granada & the group had the entire afternoon & evening free to enjoy the city.
We rendezvoused at 6:00pm on our hotel's rooftop terrace to enjoy a picnic & sundowner before dinner.  A great way to end a great day.
