September 23rd: Across Andalucia - Seville to Granada, via Cordoba to Granada

Our journey across Andalucia from Sevilla to Granada today took us via the city of Cordoba, once one of the greatest cities in the entire world!
Today it is a workaday city of around 300,000, but a millennium ago it was home to up to 1 million people & was the cultural, educational & spiritual center of Al Andalus, Moorish Spain.
A small historic core still exists, centered around the Mesquite - the former mosque now converted to a cathedral.
After crossing the Rio Guadalquivir on foot via the so-called Roman Bridge, we visited the Mezquita together before splitting up so everyone could take as long or as little time as they wished to explore this beautiful building.
There was then free time for lunch & to wander the narrow streets of the former Jewish Quarter.
In Granada we checked into our very centrally-located hotel then took a walk to become oriented to the city center.  We ended our walk at dinner in the Albayzin neighborhood - an uphill climb but well worth it for the fantastic location & views of the Alhambra from the Mirador de Morayma, one of the city's historic garden villa restaurants.
